One More Journey

Led by the organization’s social work team, One More Journey aims to grant hospice patients their final wishes.

One More Journey is a program unique to Journey Hospice. Born from team meetings and passionate brainstorm sessions, One More Journey evolved from an idea of how to help a single patient to a well-developed program that’s touched dozens of lives.

It starts by learning more about the people we serve, including their needs, desires, and personal interests. From there, the Journey team works with family members and friends of hospice patients to help grant their final wish.

Recent examples have included a trip to the beach, a tour of a horse farm, and a ride on the Cape May Lewes Ferry:

In November of 2018, a patient was granted her wish to take a day trip on the Cape May Lewes Ferry, one of her favorite past-times. It was a memorable experience for not only the patient but also her social worker, Madeline Martinez. “It was such a beautiful moment to witness her taking in the fresh ocean air. I know how happy this experience made my patient and I am so happy we were able to make this happen for her,” said Martinez.
